Lead Professional Role - Supporting Others

If you want to be able to share I Matter thinking through offering study support sessions using our poster and video resources in your setting to provide support for other inhouse professionals or parents or local study support for those on online learning, you must obtain an Approved Lead Professional Licence.
If you are a GP who wants to work more closely with schools and Advanced practitioners in your community using the I Matter Framework and Community Wheel concept to build a shared language then you must obtain an approved I Matter Link-Lead GP licence for your community
If you are a professional with advanced experience who would like to support a local practice with GP and schools in your community for children with additional specialist needs according to your own specialism then you must obtain first a Lead Professional and then an Advanced Practitioner licence.
On completion of Foundation or Intermediate training you can apply to join our Lead Professional network if you have support of your senior leadership team and a clearly defined objective for your inhouse study support role (for example supporting other staff in your setting or supporting parents in a specific year group or need group eg reception children or parents of children with an EHCP plan or ASF plan
Prerequisites
Completion of both Foundation and Intermediate A and B are required to apply for Approved Lead Professional role.
To apply to become an approved Lead Professional Trainee you must attend at 6 supported learning sessions for your Foundation and Intermediate courses with one of our approved team and must complete your workbooks which should be submitted with your application.
An application can be submitted for the Lead role on completion of Foundation A and B. The foundation course introduces the framework, and the intermediate introduces developmental thinking. The Lead Professional role involves supporting others in applying the theory and thinking to a range of complex and specific challenges
Most Lead Professionals will have completed a period as a volunteer study supporter and/or as a volunteer online coach before becoming approved as a Lead Professional.
To become an Approved Lead Professional you must take regular part in our lead professional training programme and complete a minimum of 3 supported learning cycles for professionals and parents according to your action research plan
I Matter Course Lead Professional Program overview
Lead Professional study supporters are trained to facilitate and support the \Foundation and Intermediate online courses to their own audiences and also potentially to assist with our-scheduled online continuing education courses.
The two-year program involves gaining of experience in running study support groups for both professionals and for parents and includes master classes with Dr. Betoin a, supported case study, forum discussion, reflective journaling and regularly scheduled consultations with our team.
Nature of the Training
Our Lead Professional training program does NOT equip anyone in how to teach or how to lead groups. We expect that individuals come to our program with the requisite skills and already possess the required credentials to command the respect of their intended audience. Our role is to equip and support individuals in the teaching of an I Matter approach.
Basic Components of Training
We aim to help each program of study to be individualized according to the candidate’s interests, background and objectives and the needs of their local interest group. . The basic components of the Lead Professional involve mastery of creating the conditions that support others in making sense of the theory in relation to a wide range of varied needs and contexts
Mastering the theory typically involves review of real life case examples from everyday life and practice and further study of the resources available via our program The personal integration component of the program involves participation in our B program, which in turn are responded to by our team. The content of the B course includes personal reflections and provides a place to process challenges faced in the living out of this approach. This is facilitated through master class sessions with Dr. Betoin and the Team.
Requirements
Lead Professional are also expected to arrange and run groups as part of the certification process while receiving support and supervision from the I Matter team.
Time Involvement
We assume that people already have full lives with their family and work commitments; however the ability to carve out several hours per week is a necessary prerequisite for involvement in this program. The more time students are able to devote to their studies, the richer the experience.
Tuition
Tuition for the Lead Professional Diploma Program is currently £1500 for Year 1, £1000 for Year 2 and £500 for the ongoing licence. We are committed to building a network of professionally credentialed Leads and Advanced practitioners. Once accepted in the Lead Professional Program, experienced helping professionals are also given complementary access to our Advanced practitioner membership centre where they can attend regularly-scheduled practitioner master classes with Dr. Betoin as well as access supporting resources and a discussion forum.
As a Lead Professional with a current licence you will be able to:
i) run small group and 1:1 sessions according to our guidelines using our videos and posters for those in your own setting using no online learning
ii) run small group or 1: 1 study support sessions according to our guidelines for those working through online learning
iii) offer a discount code to those in your setting who want to pursue self-help learning
iv) work with us to offer supported online learning as one of our online study supporters or online coaches
As a Lead Professional
i) You may NOT offer the course to professionals or parents outside of your own immediate school, personal caseload, or setting without explicit agreement
ii) You may NOT offer online learning without explicit agreement
Ongoing Fees
We are committed to actively supporting our Lead Professional Team. In order to do this, there is an annual personal membership fee of £150 (£120 to renew) and an ongoing licence fee. The details of this licence are still being finalised. There will also be an organisational licence if you are offering a lead professional role in a school or service setting. According to the licence your school or service takes out the costs of your time can be delivered in a salaried element of your time if it supports your organisational objectives or can be charged to clients if you are in an independent role.

Applicants seeking to take part in Advancd Practitioner training are expected to have a professional degree and advanced practice experience in a helping profession such as social work, counselling, psychology, or medicine, as well as to be actively engaged in professional practice, and independently licensed and regulated.
