Advanced Practitioner Training: Supporting Others
Specialist Needs - Complex Care Co-ordination
When a child has developmental delay or a history of neglect or trauma there are commonly some gaps in their social emotional development that it is easy to overlook. Addressing these gaps is nonetheless key to the child's long term wellbeing and success as an adult.
However these issues are not the current focus of mainstream provision which is delivering a curriculum heavily skewed towards academic progress. Advanced Practitioners thus work with the system around the child to ensure that adults at home and school are adequately trained for their role and to ensure that the team is working well together to address and support skills development on key social emotional skills. This involves a careful informed assessment and support for a longer term view so that the issues don't get 'lost to sight'.
