I Matter Self Help Learning Journey:
First Steps and Foundation Course From Confusion to Clarity
A 10 month drip drip learning process with a monthly subscription
Every child is complex, but some are more complex than others
The subscription version of the I Matter Foundation course is intended to offer an accessible learning option for those who want to learn more about the I Matter Framework to inform their own ability to help their pwn child.
PLEASE NOTE There is no support offered with this option and it is not possible to become a licensed link or lead professional or parent mentor via this route. If you wish to become a licensed practitioner you must take part in a professional course which includes support. If you have completed the self-help course and want to upgrade to the professional training however then a discount can be offered.
Parents who are seeking supported learning can seek to encourage their own school or service to train a local professional team who can offer supported learning as part of a local community or inhouse. You can check if your school or service has a licensed professional via our directory.
The content of the main course will be released gradually over a 10 month period.
The intention of the Foundation course is to bring well established psychological ideas that are needed by parents and professionals of children with challenges or more complex needs, into a really useful framework called the Adult-Child Well-Being 'I Matter' Framework.
You will discover how a deeper understanding of stress states, child development, brain development and the adult role can help you understand better what is happening in your home or work setting.
You will also learn about the direction of travel and the steps you can take if you want to make a difference.
There is a 14 day free trial and the cost is then £35 a month. You can cancel your subscription at any time.
The Structure of the Self-Help Subscription course:
The First Steps part of the Course offers an orientation to the background to the I Matter Framework and a self-assessment process
The Foundation A course introduces important psychological theory taught in a very practical way through videos and questions in a private online platform.

About the Instructor:
Dr Cathy Betoin is a practising clinical psychologist, an experienced teacher and a parent. She has worked in schools, child psychology and CAMHS settings for over 30 years with children and families who are managing a wide variety of challenging and complex behaviours. Cathy has a passion for ensuring that parents, carers and professionals who work directly with children have access to the knowledge and understanding that can help them make a difference. The Adult-Child Well-Being 'I Matter' Framework is a carefully organised well-evidenced set of ideas organised into a practical foundation for decision making. It draws attention to the fact that to help a challenging or complex child we have to put adult-child relationships, adult-child stress and child development back on the map.
PLEASE NOTE:
We are on the look out for experienced professionals with an interest in developing the Link and Lead Professional roles and a community hub offering in partnership with schools for parents in their own locality. In order to apply to become a Lead Professional or advanced practitioner supporting others you have to take part in a supported programme with group discussions.
